The manufacturer of a locally-made wine product has eluded authorities after seven people died and another 36 fell ill, including two who remain in serious condition, after drinking the methanol-laced beverage, officials said on Monday.
Seven people died and more than 30 others were hospitalized this week in Banteay Meanchey province after drinking a methanol-laced, locally-made wine product, which officials have blamed for the spate of apparent poisonings.
A new state-owned bank with an initial investment of $100 million will be established to provide low-interest loans to small businesses and address what an industry association calls a capital shortage in the sector, the Industry Ministry said.
